Monthly President's Message

Hello Rockhounders,

Well we finally got some cold and snowy weather. I was beginning to think we would skip winter altogether. Now things are getting warmer and it is time to start rockhounding. Richard Petty gave a very good program on wonder stone. He showed us seven different types. He also provided instructions on how to find the sights. It would be great to plan a field trip to one of the sights Richard mentioned. The club could still use a field trip chairman, if you’re interested in assisting us with organizing a trip or have some ideas for field trips please talk with a board member we would love to work with you. The trips help club members to understand rocks and hounding as well as provide a very good social outing.

The club has filed the paper work to be reorganized as a charitable organization (501-3C). The board approved the required bylaws changes and a conflict of interest statement in the January meeting, and the club secretary signed them at the February meeting. The federal paperwork has been completed and the paperwork with the state is in the process of being filed.

We are very excited to have another great show in April. We appreciate all that Roberta does and she is working hard to prepare for the show. As usual we need rocks. We need small rocks for the grab bags, large rocks for the wheel and the silent auction. The February meeting will be used to make rock bags for the show. Please bring your rock buckets to the February meetings. We want your rocks!!

All club members are invited to attend the board meetings. They are held every month at Denny’s on 7000 South. The meeting start at 7:00 PM. I appreciate all of you and what you do for the club. Hopefully we will see you at the next meeting and we will have lots and lots of rocks.

Thank you,

April Robinson, President
